As one of eldest science discipline, architecture would become never ending something to be dug and dug. Various methods has developed during hundreds year to build an attracting building or living place. No one has a same taste. That is makes architecture become an interesting knowledge to learn and to be a kind of professionalism. With a creativity added by a drawing talent, somebody will become as a good architect. But nowadays, when a world grow up and still develop as fast as you can see, the talents are not enough to be a acknowledge architect. Most of world’s universities include architecture as one of study program to learn and to be acknowledgement. Some university including architecture in one separate faculty and other university joined it with other faculty like engineering faculty or faculty of art. But the private policy did not changed image of the architecture as a promising and prestigious study program.
Talking about architecture doesn’t complete if not involved this name: Cornell University. Established since 1865 by Ezra Cornell, Cornell University would become one of the best University in United States and the world. It proved when the university ranked 14th in the 2009 U.S. News & World Report National Universities ranking (between Washington University in St. Louis and Johns Hopkins University), and Britain's THES - QS World University Rankings ranked Cornell 14th in the world in 2005 and 15th in 2006. It isn’t amazing?
Beside of the honorarium, what makes The University which is standing at 745 acres (3.0 km²) land in Small City, Ithaca, US would be special? The Almanac of Architecture and Design along with Design Intelligence has consistently ranked Cornell's Bachelor of Architecture program as number one in the nation (in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007). In the 2008 survey, the program ranked second and the Master of Architecture program ranked third. In 2008, Design Intelligence also ranked Cornell's undergraduate and graduate landscape architecture programs as 6th and 4th respectively, in the nation.
So, that is the reason why Cornell University becomes the hottest destination of all of American student to learn architecture and become professional. Maybe they are become motivated to be like Richmond Shreve, Cornell’s alumni who design Empire State Buliding, one of the tallest and largest buildings in the world.
